You’ve read the parenting books. You’ve saved the Instagram posts. You may have even practiced a few new phrases in the mirror.
And then your child refuses to put on their shoes, your other child needs help with homework, and somehow everyone is upset before 8 a.m.
Sound familiar?
There’s no shortage of parenting advice out there. But knowing what to do in a real-life moment, especially when you’re tired, overwhelmed, or unsure what your child needs, can feel like a different story.
That’s where parent coaching comes in.
At Imperfect Parenting LA, we work alongside parents to make sense of the challenges they’re facing and find practical ways forward that fit their families. If you’ve ever wondered what that support actually looks like, let’s walk through it together.
It Starts With a Conversation
Maybe you’ve been thinking about reaching out for a while, but you’re not quite sure what you would say.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You can come with a specific concern, a long list of questions, or simply the feeling that something isn’t working the way you’d like.
During your free 20-minute consultation, we’ll take time to listen to what’s happening in your family, answer your questions, and explain our approach to parent coaching. It’s an opportunity to get to know one another and talk about what kind of support might be helpful.
You Bring the Real-Life Moments
Parent coaching is personal. The conversations focus on your child, your family, and the situations you’re navigating.
Perhaps mornings feel like a constant rush.
Maybe bedtime has become a battle, your children are struggling to get along, or you’re finding it hard to connect with your tween.
You might be wondering how to set a boundary without a power struggle, or how to respond differently when your own frustration takes over.
Whatever brings you to coaching, we’ll begin by listening. Together, we can look at what’s happening beneath the behavior, consider your child’s developmental needs, and explore what you need as a parent, too.
There’s no need to bring your “best parent” self to the conversation. We welcome the messy, complicated, I-have-no-idea-what-to-do-next moments.
Together, We Find Tools You Can Use
Understanding a situation is helpful. Knowing what to try when it happens again can make all the difference.
In coaching, we work with you to find practical, connection-focused strategies for the challenges you’re facing. Depending on your family’s needs, that might include:
Finding words to use when emotions are running high.
Setting and holding boundaries with warmth and confidence.
Making everyday routines feel more manageable.
Understanding what may be behind a child’s behavior.
Recognizing your own triggers and exploring ways to respond with more intention.
Finding small moments to strengthen your connection with your child.
For example, if bedtime has become a nightly negotiation, we might explore what feels difficult about that time of day, talk through your current routine, and help you identify a few changes to try.
The goal is to find approaches that make sense for your family, and to give you a supportive place to talk about how they’re going.
Sessions Are for Parents, and Partners Are Welcome
A common question we hear is: Will my child join the coaching sessions?
Our sessions are for parents and parent figures, so your child does not participate. If you have a partner or another parent figure in your home who would like to join, they are welcome, too.
Coaching gives the adults a chance to ask questions, explore different perspectives, and work toward a shared approach to the challenges in front of them.
Coaching Can Fit Into Real Family Life
We know parents have a lot on their plates. Our one-on-one parent coaching sessions take place virtually on Zoom, so you can connect with us from the comfort of home.
We generally suggest meeting once a week, but we’ll work with your schedule and needs to find a frequency that makes sense for your family. We’re also happy to discuss package options and work with you to explore an approach that makes sense financially.
Every family’s situation is different, and we believe the conversation about support should reflect that.
You’ll Have Someone in Your Corner
Parenting can be joyful, hilarious, exhausting, and confusing, sometimes all before lunchtime. And even when you’re surrounded by advice, it can still feel lonely when you’re in the middle of a tough season.
Parent coaching gives you a place to pause, be heard, and work through challenges with someone who understands. It’s a chance to build on the strengths you already have, learn new tools, and feel more confident navigating the bumpy moments.
You don’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable to reach out. If you’re curious about what support could look like for your family, we’d love to connect.
